Research Advisor: Prof. Jeffrey Bokor

BETR Research Thrust: Millivolt Switches

Bio

Zafer Mutlu is a postdoctoral researcher in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) department at University of California, Berkeley (UCB), and a research affiliate at the Molecular Foundry (TMF) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). He received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from University of California, Riverside (UCR) in 2016, where he continued his postdoctoral research, before joining to UCB in 2018. His work has been published in many journals, including ACS Nano, JACS, Advanced Functional Materials and Nano Energy. He delivered several talks in national and international conferences, including American Physical Society (APS) Meeting, Materials Research Society (MRS) Meeting, and SRC’s TECHCON conference.

Research

Zafer Mutlu’s research focuses on bottom-up synthesis of atomically precise graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) using ultra-high vacuum (UHV) deposition, polymerization, and cyclodehydrogenation techniques, and design, fabrication, and characterization of their nanoelectronic devices. His doctoral research was on the synthesis, phase engineering and fundamental understanding of two dimensional (2D) materials.
