BETR Research Thrust: System Integration

Bozhi Yin received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Tongji University, China, in 2015, and the M.S. degree in microelectronics from Fudan University, China, in 2018. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with the University of California at Berkeley. His current research interests include applications of integrated silicon photonics, serial links, and cryogenic electronics for quantum applications.

Cryogenic technology becomes more and more important for future computing systems, including both quantum computing and superconducting logic-based high-performance computing. However, the interconnection technology between the cryogenic and room temperature environment has become one of the bottlenecks to scaling these computing systems. The optical link is gaining more attention due to the negligible heat transfer of glass fiber and the high throughput of optical communication. We’re developing a cryogenic electronic-photonics link in a monolithic silicon-photonics platform to connect superconducting computing nodes with room temperature memory.
