Dr. Tsu-Jae King Liu is the Dean of the College of Engineering and the Roy W. Carlson Professor of Engineering at UC Berkeley. Previously, she served as Chair of the EECS Department, the COE Associate Dean for Research, and Faculty Director of the Marvell Nanolab. She was also Sr. Director of Engineering in the Advanced Technology Group of Synopsys, Inc. (2004-2006).

She received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. She joined the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center as a Member of Research Staff in 1992, to research and develop high-performance thin-film transistor technologies for flat-panel display applications. In 1996 she joined the faculty at UC Berkeley. Her research activities are presently in advanced materials, fabrication processes and devices for energy-efficient electronics. She has authored or co-authored more than 550 publications and holds more than 95 patents.

Dr. Liu’s awards include the DARPA Significant Technical Achievement Award for development of the FinFET, the IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award, the Intel Outstanding Researcher in Nanotechnology Award, and the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) Aristotle Award. Dr. Liu is a fellow of the IEEE, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. She serves on the Board of Directors for Intel Corporation and on the Board of Directors for MaxLinear, Inc.
