Bio

Julian Maravilla received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2020. During his time at UCSB, Julian conducted research on broadband antennas and communication systems. Today, he is working towards his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences advised by Ana Arias and Miki Lustig where his work is focused around hardware for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). His broader interests lie around modern communication and radio frequency systems.

Research

Julian’s current research is rooted around flexible and out-of-plane electronics. His work focuses on improving MRI receiver coils by utilizing different fabrication techniques to generate coils that are patient specific and simple to manufacture. He is currently working on electroless plating methods in order to fabricate 3D printed MRI receiver coils and is working on ways to implement high impedance coils on flexible substrates.
