Xiaoer Hu
Graduate Student
Research Advisor: Prof. Tsu-Jae King Liu
BETR Research Thrust: Millivolt Switches
Bio
Xiaoer is a Ph.D. candidate in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department at UC Berkeley. Her advisor is Professor Tsu-Jae King Liu. Before coming to Berkeley, she got a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, both in 2017.
Research
Xiaoer’s Ph.D. research focuses on ultra-low voltage electronic devices. Specifically, she is working on designing, fabricating, and testing nano/micro-electro-mechanical (N/MEM) relays. She is studying the operation of N/MEM relay integrated circuits operating at cryogenic temperatures, with ultra-low power consumption for compact and reliable quantum computing. She is also working on self-oscillating N/MEM relays, which can be a prime candidate for oscillator-based Onsager computing.
