BETR Research Thrust: System Integration

Bio

Sarika is a PhD student in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley working on integrated circuits and silicon photonics. She is advised by Prof. Vladimir Stojanović. Prior to starting her PhD, she received her bachelor’s degree in 2020 and her master’s degree in 2021 from UC Berkeley.

Research

Sarika’s PhD research focuses on investigating the use of silicon microring resonators to sense ultrasound for endoscopic imaging applications such as cardiology and oncology. Silicon microring resonators are an attractive alternative to state-of-the-art ultrasound sensors due to their small diameter and capacity to bypass the sensitivity-bandwidth tradeoff. She is working towards an all-optical ultrasound imaging system that will target photoacoustic applications.
